Virus Scan Package Distribution
Virus Protection
Every computer connected to the campus network must have the McAfee
Virus Scan software installed. In addition, the virus definitions must be
updated weekly. This is done automatically every Wednesday night or Thursday
morning by the McAfee distribution system.
To determine if your computer is up to date, please right-click on the the V
-shield at the bottom right of your screen and choose "About." The
"about" page should indicate at least scan engine 4.3.20 and virus
definitions 5009.

With this package, the users need not be concerned with downloading the latest updates. Instead, this system will distribute the software package and the antivirus
update files to every PC on the network. This should require no intervention from the user. Windows 95/98 systems will not receive the automatic virus definitions update. If your system has to be one of these operating systems, you must install the updates manually.
The anti-virus updates are distributed using a product from McAfee called ePolicy Orchestrator. You should notice a little blue shield at the bottom right of your screen.
If you double click on it, the following monitor screen will load. This will indicate if your computer is communicating with the distribution server. There is no interaction required of users for this to work.
